Instalando Vmware Workstation 7,1,5 en openSUSE 12.1
Yo todavía tengo que usar la versión 7.1.5 de Vmware Workstation porque tengo una maquina antigua que no es compatible con la ultima versión que es la 8.0 debido a que al procesador le faltan la funciones LAHF/SAHF
Para poder llevar a cabo una instalación satisfactoria se deben instalar primero: kernel-source, kernel-syms y luego instalar el patrón Desarrollo base en Yast->Software->Instalar desintalar->Ver->Patrones y después ejecutar el comando sh VMware-Workstation-Full-7.1.5-491717.i386.bundle como administrador

Si al encender una maquina virtual da los siguientes errores

Nos vamos a yast-sistema-servicios del sistema (niveles de ejecución) seleccionamos la opción modo experto buscamos el servicio vmware y quitamos el check a los niveles 2 y 3 para que solo quede el 5 luego reiniciamos la computadora.

Optimizando el rendimiento en KDE 4.6 en openSUSE 11.4 septiembre 8, 2011

Hay varios métodos para mejorar el rendimiento del KDE 4,6 en openSUSE 11,4 el primer paso es revisar que procesos se están ejecutando presionando las teclas Esc+Control, para mi sorpresa habían mas de 80 procesos llamados akonadi_contact consumiendo 2200 kb promedio de memoria, eso en mi laptop, en una desktop encontré 60 de estos procesos y en otra laptop que tenia como un mes de haberle instalado el openSUSE 11,4 encontré 25 de estos procesos.
Para deshacerme de estos servicios presione Alt+F2 y escribí akonadi para luego seleccionar configuración de akonadi y en la solapa configuración de recursos de akonai borre todo lo que ahí estaban, reinicie la maquina volví a revisar y solo estaba uno que dice local folders
Por cada vez que reiniciaba las maquinas aparecía un nuevo proceso de akonadi_contact pero una vez hecho esto el problema se resolvió y ahora solo aparecen cinco procesos relacionados con Akonadi a como se muestra en la siguiente gráfica.
Ahora el siguiente paso es deshabilitar las animaciones de oxygen para esto volvemos a presionar Alt+F2 y escribimos oxygen-settings y presionamos enter luego en la solapa en estilo de elementos gráficos seleccionamos la solapa animaciones y desactivamos las animaciones.
ahora nos vamos a decoración de ventanas y desactivamos las animaciones ahí también.
Ahora vamos a deshabilitar los efectos de escritorio Kwin para esto nos vamos a Preferencias del sistema
Ahora seleccionamos Efectos del escritorio
En en la solapa general deshabilitamos los efectos de escritorio
Ahora lo que sigue es revisar que el servicio Strigi no se este ejecutando, para esto nos vamos nuevamente a Preferencias del sistema y seleccionamos búsqueda de escritorio
Debe estar como la imagen
Con estos cuantos pasos podemos ganar algo de rendimiento extra en nuestro sistema.
Acceso remoto a openSUSE 11.4 septiembre 7, 2011

Es necesario poder acceder de forma remota una pc que se encuentra geográficamente distante de nuestra ubicación actual ya sea en una red LAN o en a través del Internet para resolver cualquier problema de forma rápida sin tener que movernos, en mi caso necesitaba una solución que me permitiera incluso reiniciar mi maquina con openSUSE 11.4 y seguir trabajando en ella, introducir la clave y continuar con la sesión de trabajo.
Instalando NXServer 3.5 de NOMACHINE en openSUSE 11.4
Primero descargamos los paquetes nxclient-3.5.0-7.i386.rpm, nxnode-3.5.0-6.i386.rpm y nxserver-3.5.0-8.i386.rpm correspondientes para SUSE del sitio de NOMACHINE y ejecutamos los siguiente comandos como administrador
rpm – Uvh nxclient-3.5.0-7.i386.rpm
rpm – Uvh nxnode-3.5.0-6.i386.rpm
rpm – Uvh nxserver-3.5.0-8.i386.rpm
en ese mismo orden
por defecto el nx usa el puerto 22 de ssh para establecer la conexión por lo que es una buena practica cambiar el numero de puerto por motivos de seguridad, para ello tenemos que modificar los siguiente archivos de configuración
en el archivo /etc/ssh/ssh_config cambiamos la linea port a 2222 claro que puede ser otro numero de puerto

en el archivo /etc/ssh/sshd_config cambiamos la linea port a 2222 claro que puede ser otro numero de puerto
Port 2222
en el archivo /usr/NX/etc/node.cfg cambiamos las lineas siguientes para que queden a como se muestra a continuacion

EnableFileSharing = “1”
MountShareProtocol = “Both”
esto de arriba configura la comparticion de archivos y cambia el puerto ssh al numero deseado en el nodo
en el archivo /usr/NX/etc/server.cfg cambiamos las lineas siguientes para que queden a como se muestra a continuación
SSHDPort = “2222″
EnableUserDB = “0″
EnablePasswordDB = “0″
SSHDAuthPort = “2222″
EnableDesktopSharing = “1″
EnableInteractiveDesktopSharing = “1″
EnableFullDesktopSharing = “1″
EnableAdministratorDesktopSharing = “1″
EnableDesktopSharingAuthorization = “0″
EnableSystemDesktopSharingAuthorization = “0″
Con esto nos podremos conectar a la maquina remota en la sesión actual, también podremos reiniciar la maquina y volvernos a autenticar si esta tiene deshabilitada la opción de login automático, recordemos abrir el puerto 2222 o el que haya sido nuestra elección en el firewall y reiniciamos la pc.
Nota: En mi caso tuve que agregar la entrada wins a la sección hosts del archivo /etc/nsswitch.conf quedando de esta forma
hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns wins
ya que no se estaba conectando por medio del nombre de maquina de un cliente nx en una estación openSUSE a un servidor openSUSE, solo funcionaba con IP, pero de una estación con Windows si funcionaba bien tanto usando el hostname como el IP, pero con esto se soluciona el problema, pero ¿porque tener una sola solución cuando se pueden tener dos?.
Instalando teamviewer 6 en openSUSE 11.4
Teamvier es otra solución para acceder de forma remota nuestra pc con openSUSE 11.4, teamviewer usa el puerto 80 como canal de comunicación, nos vamos y descargamos el paquete rpm para SUSE del sitio del fabricante y ejecutamos el siguiente comando
rpm – Uvh teamviewer_linux_suse32.rpm
Ejecutamos el teamviewer vía lanzador de aplicaciones y nos vamos a Extras – opciones – seguridad y le asignamos una contraseña fija al equipo ya que el teamviewer genera una contraseña diferente cada vez que es ejecutado y si no estamos frente a la maquina no hay forma de saber cuál es.
ahora nos vamos al lanzador de aplicaciones y buscamos la aplicación teamviewer y arrastramos el icono a la carpeta /home/user/.kde4/Autostart/ donde “user” es su nombre de usuario, reinciamos la maquina y le damos aceptar cuando pregunte si deseamos ejecutar el teamviewer, esto lo preguntara el sistema una sola vez, esto va a hacer que cada vez que reiniciamos la pc con el teamviewer este arrancara automáticamente permitiéndonos volver a establecer la comunicación, pero ojo que si la opción login automático no está habilitada no sera posible establecer la comunicación de nuevo vía teamviewer solamente vía Nxserver ya que la aplicación teamviewer requiere que el usuario se autentique y cargue el escritorio antes de arrancar.

Nos vamos a yast-sistema-servicios del sistema (niveles de ejecución) seleccionamos la opción modo experto buscamos el servicio vmware y quitamos el check a los niveles 2 y 3 para que solo quede el 5 luego reiniciamos la computadora.

Then go to Yast > System > System Services check expert mode and set the vmware service to be only in the 5 level, uncheck the rest, reboot the machime and vmware is ready to run.

Algunas veces es necesario deshabilitar la opción de documentos recientes en el menú del KDE en openSUSE, para llevar a cabo esto es necesario cambiarle los permisos al directorio RecentDocuments que se encuentra dentro de ~/.kde4/share/apps
para esto nos vamos a la carpeta ~/.kde4/share/apps y ejecutamos como administrador los siguiente
chmod 000 RecentDocuments
y listo con esto se deshabilita esa opción, esto es particularmente útil en maquinas que son usadas por varias personas para evitar que otros husmeen los documentos de otros, por lo menos los que usaron recientemente.

Instalando Vmware Workstation 7,1,4 en openSUSE 11,4
Para poder llevar a cabo una instalación satisfactoria se deben instalar primero: kernel-source, kernel-syms y luego instalar el patrón Desarrollo base en Yast->Software->Instalar desintalar->Ver->Patrones y después ejecutar el comando sh VMware-Workstation-Full-7.1.4-385536.i386.bundle como administrador
Si al encender una maquina virtual da los siguientes errores
